Talk about weird. Two robot Hummer trucks, developed by Carnegie Mellon University’s Red Team, have left campus and are heading west for the final push in their bid to win the DARPA Grand Challenge. Let me say that again: Two robot Hummer trucks…are heading west… As in, no one is driving them!

General Motors’ macho off-road subsidiary Hummer has already sold 15,000 units of a new smaller model, the H3, in the US since its launch three months ago and is considering building an even smaller fourth vehicle.
The Detroit News talks about new enhancements already available for the brand new H3 Hummer. Here’s one, featuring GT Incorporated wheels with the simulated and body-colored beadlock design.

Sort of. The front grill of my H2 Hummer is actually covered in flies, but taking it on the cameraphone netted exactly zero flies. Well, you can see some flies if you squint hard enough. Those black smudges? Dead flies.
Oh well. Take my word for it — long distance travel + an H2 Hummer = dead flies on the grill. Lots and lots of dead flies.

How cool is this? AOL gave a 52-year old welder some cash and an H2 Hummer just for entering in one of its contests. The guy plans to retire!
