Dying to see what the 2009 Hummer H3T looks like when it finally becomes available at your local Hummer dealer? Well you’re in luck, because someone snapped a photo of it, and the guys at worldcarfans has it (see the thumbnail to your left and a bigger picture below). I personally think it looks okay, but nothing to get overly excited about. Then again, the finished version could look so much better, who knows.
Leave it to “open-minded” environmental activists to show you just what being close-minded is like up close and personal. Here’s an article about some guy in Washington, D.C. who had his 2005 Hummer H2 SUT vandalized by a couple of “eco thugs” one night, just a scant 5 days after the poor guy bought the truck. J.D. Power and Associates released their 2007 report on the most useful automotive websites for new car buyers, and Hummer.com (home of, of course, GM and the Hummer trucks) came up on top. So how did Hummer did? It ranked highest with an index score of 870 on a 1,000-point scale — a 5-point improvement from Wave 1 of the study, which was released in January 2007. Coming in a close second was the Toyota website with 858, followed by Jeep (856), Suzuki (855), Land Rover (854), and Lexus (853).
Love the H3 Alpha SUV but don’t dig the lack of power? Well you’re in luck. For 2008, General Motors is equipping the 2008 version of their popular H3 Alpha SUV with a V-8 engine. That means a new 5.3-liter, small-block V-8 that will yield 300 horsepower and 320 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 rpm.
I’m always a little amused and slightly irritated when people mention the words “Hummer” and “Green” in the same sentence. Can you REALLY have one WITH the other? Or maybe the better question is, WHY would you want to? I’m not saying we should all go out and trash the planet, but what the hell is the point of driving a monster like the Hummer if you’re going to be going nuts over the environment every other day? Anyways, the latest news from GM is that they plan to make the Hummer H4 Green-friendly.
