Get Ready for the H3 Commercials!
Are you ready for it? New commercials for the H3 Hummer Trucks will be rolling out into a TV tube near you.
Newsday has a preview of one of them:
In past commercials, Hummer has advertised its vehicles with a spot about a kid who builds a Hummer-like soapbox derby car and cheats to win a downhill race and another showing the big, boxy SUV parallel parking on a city street. To add to those respective messages – “Hummer drivers don’t play fairly” and “Hummers make good city cars, as long as you can find a big enough space to park it in” – is a new one: Hummers descend from city-destroying monsters. Now, we have nothing against Hummers, but one has to admit these are curious messages to send. Memorable, yes, but still curious.
In a new commercial for the Hummer H3, a Godzilla-like monster is wreaking havoc on a helpless city when it encounters a gigantic robot. However, instead of doing battle with each other, they fall in love. After a 10-second courtship – this is a 60-second commercial, after all – the monster is revealed to be female, as well as pregnant.
While the robot is off doing whatever it is giant robots do, he hears a scream: The monster has given birth – to a shiny red Hummer H3, which she lays down on the road. As it drives away, up pops the tagline: “It’s a little monster. The new H3.” Just one question: If the spare tire on back falls off, does another one grow back?
Oh yeah, it’s definitely going to be a monster.
