Singer D’Angelo Injured in Hummer Crash
Grammy Award-winning R&B singer D’Angelo was critically injured last week in an auto accident that caused his Hummer to flip over along Route 711 in his native Virginia.
Born Michael Eugene Archer, D’Angelo was transported by helicopter to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in nearby Richmond, where he’s still being treated for his injuries, according to Sergeant Kevin Barrick, a Virginia State Police spokesperson.
According to Barrick, the single-car crash occurred just before 8 p.m. on Sept. 19 as D’Angelo and another person, Lynee Sellers, were traveling east on Route 711. The 2003 Hummer ran off the road and slammed into a fence before overturning. The singer, 31, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.
